Compress PDF
Create a smaller image-based PDF from scanned documents.
How to use this tool
Select a scanned PDF and choose a quality setting. The tool rasterizes its pages and creates an image-based PDF. It compares the output size with the original before choosing which file to offer.
A worked example
A high-resolution scan may become smaller at a lower JPEG quality. A text-only PDF may become larger; if that happens, the original is offered instead.
How it works & what to check
This method removes searchable text, working links, form fields, layers and digital signatures from a smaller generated copy. Page dimensions are preserved. Use it for scanned copies only when these changes are acceptable.
Common questions
Is a smaller file guaranteed?
No. If the generated file is not smaller, the tool explains the result and offers the original without replacing it.
Will my text remain selectable?
No. The compressed output consists of page images and this tool does not run OCR.
What are the limits?
Up to 50 MB of input and 100 pages. Very large pages are downscaled to bound memory use, which can reduce fine detail.
