How it works & what to check
Words are separated by whitespace. Characters are Unicode code points; a combined emoji can contain several code points. Sentence counts use punctuation boundaries, and paragraphs are separated by blank lines.
Common questions
Will this match Microsoft Word exactly?
Not always. Editors use different rules for hyphens, abbreviations, emoji and punctuation. Use the counter required by your publisher for strict limits.
Does it support Urdu and Arabic?
Yes, text can be pasted in those scripts. Words are counted using spaces, and Arabic and Urdu sentence punctuation is recognized.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Counting happens in this browser tab. Your text is not stored by this tool.
